Today's article is In the Room Where It Happens, Eight Shows a Week
The stars of Hamilton on what it’s like in the eye of a hurricane.
It's a long interview (giving Hamilton-the-Musical its due on Hamilton-the-Politican's birthday) with the leads-who-aren't-Hamilton.
quote begins
To find out what it's like to be part of a once-in-a-generation hit, Vulture sat down with Odom Jr., Goldsberry, and Jackson, as well as the equally brilliant two-part actors Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson) and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds), as they ate dinner between shows at the classic Broadway staple Sardi's. They discussed how the show changes every night, the quiet importance of director Thomas Kail, how they landed on their takes on these American icons, and when they think they will be ready to leave their parts. Each was open, warm, and passionate about being in Hamilton, thoughtfully articulating how beautiful and strange it is to be in this moment.

I read about it at MetaFilter's compilation post, which included this right on summary from The Whelk:
quote begins
Think of the series of implausible sentences required to explain the Hamilton phenomenon, that a musical about the first treasury secretary, starring an nearly all POC cast, that is almost entirely song, is so complex, character-driven and catchy that it's widely regarded as the best American Musical of the 21st century if not the last 50 years, and is so popular epically with children and teens that it's leading the biggest single profit year in Broadway's history and fueling a gigantic reinterest in the colonial period and politics across the country.

Oh and it also completely done in and explores the breadth of African American music from the 1900s onward that Broadway has traditionally ignored or appropriated.

ETA 1/12/2016: Originally said "Vice," but as the links show, the great article's actual at Vulture.
